The Best Ways for Link Building in 2007
posted at 08:28 AM - Category: Search Engines
Link building is a critical part of search engine optimization. Working to build up a strong network of backlinks will help improve your overall search engine rankings quickly and efficiently. Be certain that you not only work on link building effectively, but also responsibly. While some link building strategies, including social networks, web directories, blogs, and forum postings are completely above board and acceptable, other strategies may well be less advisable. Avoid webmaster war strategies like click bombing, and work to guard your own sites against such strategies.
Social networking sites like Digg and Stumbleupon offer a good opportunity for link building and site promotion. These sites allow a page or site to be submitted, publicized and ranked by visitors. Review submission policies and be certain that your site meets the appropriate guidelines, but these networking sites can be a useful way to bring additional visitors to your site and increase your link building and search engine rankings.
Web directories have been used for several years as a means of link building and improving search engine rankings. While you can manually submit your site to web directories, many people opt to use directory submission services to speed this process. These services allow you to provide the link, keywords and several descriptions and for a fee, your site will be submitted to several hundred web directories. This can be a useful link building strategy for a minimal cost. Article directories are another useful tool for link building in 2007. Article directories allow you to post content or press releases for free use around the web. In return, you can publicize your services or site, provide information and links, and otherwise work with one of the best ways for link building in 2007.
Blogs are an amazing web promotion tool that can be a huge help with link building. If you have designed a relevant site, take the time to drop emails to major blogs in the subject, or even to write and maintain one on your own site to encourage link building. Blogs are a great source for free promotions and advertising, and if your site is good, relevant bloggers will likely happily link to it, providing you with much needed link building. This is a testament to the importance of good, relevant content on your site for effective site promotion, since your site will need to appeal not only to search engine algorithms, but also humans for effective link building in 2007.
Some online strategies are much more about damaging your competition than improving your own site and search engine rankings. While link building is both ethical and acceptable as a means of improving your rankings, damaging webmaster war activities like click bombing are not. Click bombing is a strategy designed to functionally disable a competitor’s access to Google’s highly profitable AdSense program. You will find that click bombing prevention software is available, and in particularly competitive web subjects may be a wise choice. Should you be click bombed, remove the ads from that site immediately and contact the company to have your account reactivated.
The best ways for link building in 2007 are varied. Some are the strategies that have been used for several years and others are new, playing into new technologies and online trends. Online directories, article directories, blog links, social networks and more can help you with good link building. Avoid unethical web promotion strategies, and protect yourself against competitors who may make use of such strategies. Good link building strategies will improve your search engine rankings and your overall site profits.

SEO or search engine optimization ?
posted at 08:16 PM - Category: Search Engines
SEO or search engine optimization is very useful for any website. Search engine optimization basically directs search engines to your website whenever a key word is typed. So if your web site is search engine optimized, whenever a user types in the keyword “cat,” your website will be displayed on the search list if you are a cat lover’s web site.
If you are a marketing firm trying to sell different kinds of products, then you may want to use search engine optimization to your advantage. If you are selling carpets for instance, you would definitely want the users to see your site when they search for carpets on the internet. Your sales will dramatically increase if you properly optimize your site for search engines.
If you are a charitable institution that is looking for donors to your cause, then you may want to use search engine optimization to increase everyone’s awareness of what you are trying to do in the world. Let us say you are trying to save the dolphins in your area from extinction. If you would like to raise funds for dolphin protection in your area, you must use search engine optimization to reach users who type in “dolphins” in their search engines. Not only will you reach these people and let them know of your cause, they will also probably be donors and helping hands to what you are trying to do in this world.
Let us say you are an internet dating site. You charge members $2 a month to be listed on your dating list. If you would like to increase the number of users in your website, then you should use search engine optimization. Whenever someone is looking for a date through the internet, all you have to do is to be key word sensitive to the word dating on search engines. Whenever someone types the word “date” or “dating,” your site will automatically appear on top of the list. Watch web traffic increase in your site and watch your online sales soar to new heights.
If you are someone who simply wants to become popular, then you could use search engine optimization to your advantage. Whenever someone types in your name on a search engine, your website will appear. You can put all of your crazy stuff there or whatever substance that makes yourself popular. You can upload videos to your website showing off your soccer skills. Maybe you might want to upload some poems on your website if you are a writer that wants to be heard.
SEO or search engine optimization is definitely an advantage to anyone who uses the World Wide Web on a regular basis. If you are not using this then you are not making the most out of your company’s potential. There are so many horizons to discover and there are so many goals to conquer. If you want to maximize your company’s output then using SEO is the way to go. Take advantage of it now.

Yahoo is one of the Search Engines where many web owners post links from exchanges in an attempt to advertise their website more proficiently. Yahoo becomes alarmed when too many links cross the platforms of the server. Thus, slowly adding links to your site is idea to prevent problems.
Yahoo seems to focus on Content coupled with inbound links. Thus, updating the webs content is idea, before starting major promotions such as ongoing link exchanging. I am sure by now you are aware of the link exchanging or text link exchange going on aboard the Internet. The purpose is to advertise the website while promoting products, services and support. Search Engines acknowledge the links once they come across the server platform, and the odds of acceptance are based on the number of links. Contradicting the amount of links, we see that internal and external links bear an importance on link exchange. The internal amount of links connecting to a domain, and the external amount of links to the website increases the odds of appearing on Google and Yahoo’s top engine list. One-way links is optional since the links provide less hassle than the Reciprocal links. In other words, one-way links is you requesting say-so from a site owner to add your link to his site, without linking the site owners to you site. MSN to start using tags

Turboblogger asks
MSN Search Jumping On Tagging Train? It sure looks like it. There seems to be a very strange trend here. Microsoft and standards! Microsoft has mostly been about taking a standard and then improving it, making it not work with the previous standard and re-branding it. But lately they seem to be getting a lot right, which is good for all of us.

Google Sandbox or Aging Delay?
posted at 03:50 PM - Category: Search Engines
I've never given much credit to the Google Sandbox theory. It just doesn't make much sense to me. However, the Aging Delay sounds more reasonable. Though it may just be semantics, the Aging Delay still seems more like "fact" than a "sandbox" effect.
Both theories spring from varying results in new Web sites getting indexed by Google. Today it takes longer for new sites to get indexed than it did a year ago. I've seen this happen to some of my sites while others get indexed more quickly. One major factor may be how often the site gets updated or if the site is largely duplicate content (ie. an Amazon Affiliate site).
If you're like me you probably have more than a few sites you run and launch new sites on a regular basis. I often build a "shell" for my sites months before they go live. Combine that with buying the domain well ahead of time and throwing up the shell you might be able to get ahead of the age factor. Don't start linking it up right away, just buy the domain, put up a small bit of content and let it "gel". When your ready to really develop it you can start building links and updating the site and you may never have to worry about the aging delay (or sandbox, if that exists).

Pagerank Demystified

Whenever there is a PageRank update there is always a flurry of speculation to start showing up. Most of the time it's just a rehash of the things that have already been said, which isn't always a bad thing. If you want to learn a bit more about PageRank then you
should read this thread over at Sitepoint. The math of it is way beyond me, but Aspen clearly has a grasp on how PR works.
Humans part of the Google Algorithm?

SEO Roundtable poses the question:
Google Search Automated or Manually Edited? Why wouldn't it have some "human" component? Humans can do fuzzy logic well beyond what's capable of a computer presently. My money is on human involvement.
